Who is the wanderer?

If you are on this blog, then chances are that you know me. However, on the off chance that you are new to my site and to me, welcome! Have a look around and stay a while. I am a freelance photojournalist from Washington state, working in the humanitarian realm. I also teach rock climbing to children and adults out of the greater Seattle area and attend graduate school at Northwest University. I am pursuing a Masters Degree in International Community Development.

Three years ago I journeyed across Africa with a non-profit and fell deeply in love with travel, culture, people and telling their stories. In October of 2016, I spent a month in the country of Belize, exploring the jungles and living and learning amongst the indigenous Maya people. I have recently made a second trip to Ethiopia and just returned from a short bout of exploration in the Guangxi region of China.

My passions are people, photography, writing and any sort of adventure. If you have any questions or are looking to collaborate, just send me a message! Also, don’t forget to check out my website:

  1. I am so proud of you Alycia for following your dreams amidst the sometimes negative and/or counterproductive comments and lack of support from people you love. I 2am so proud and happy for you to finally be returning to your love, Africa. I wish you much luck on your new adventure, and I pray we might have the opportunity to meet again. You are a wonderful person who left a huge impact on my life, and continue to daily, although you may not be aware of it. Praying and thinking of you. Love ya girl, my lil Bat 😉

    • P.S. Thank you for always being so vulnerable as to share you heart, as well as your best friend. Jess is a blessing and I see you in her daily as well 🙂
